Dezember 13, 2001

Compumedics was the only Victorian company to be recognised at this year’s Australian Export Awards.

Medical diagnostics firm, Compumedics, was the only Victorian company to be recognised at this year’s Australian Export Awards. The Governor of Victoria, John Landy(AC)(MBE), was at Compumedics’ head office in Abbotsford on Monday 10th of December 2001, to commemorate the Company’s milestone achievement.

Compumedics, which specialises in the development and production of computer-based medical monitoring and diagnostic equipment, was named the Australian Exporter Award winner for the Small to Medium Manufacturer category. This event marks Compumedics’ second export award achievement in 4 years. Compumedics won its first export award in 1998, honoured with the highest accolade as the overall Australian Exporter of the Year.

The Australian Export Awards are acknowledged as one of Australia’s most prestigious industry awards. Presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Australian Export Awards recognise excellence in exporting by businesses throughout Australia.

The Governor presented the Award to Compumedics’ Chief Executive, David Burton saying, “Companies like Compumedics are so important to this country. Not only are they leaders in their field, but they show others that export success and international excellence are achievable.”

Mr Anton Mayer, Austrade State Manager of Victoria and Tasmania said, “Compumedics is an ideal role model for other small to medium sized Australian businesses to be a successful exporter. Compumedics’ perseverance, vision and drive are elements needed to make significant in-roads in the international arena.”

Over 80% of Compumedics’ revenue is derived from exports, with almost half of that from the US. Mr Burton concluded that Compumedics will continue with its export-driven strategies, and will persevere until it is truly regarded as one of the best on the world-stage.
