COMPUMEDICS WINS THE GOVERNOR OF VICTORIA EXPORT AWARD FOR THE SECOND TIME

Compumedics Limited (ASX: CMP)was awarded the 2001 Governor of Victoria Export Award at Government House on Friday 19 October 2001. Winning it for the second time since 1998, the award was testament to Compumedics on-going commitment towards developing strong export markets.

During the ceremony, Warwick Freeman (Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of Compumedics Limited) commented:

“2001 has been a tremendous year for Compumedics. In the past year, we released 3 new products, increased revenue by 76%, of which the vast majority came from a growth in exports, achieved record profits, and successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. To be recognized for the 2nd time in 5 years with this award, has reinforced the significance of 2001 as a milestone year for Compumedics. We are sincerely honoured and grateful for the recognition that this award brings to an Australian manufacturing company.”

Compumedics Limited was established in 1987 to design and construct Australia’s first fully computerised Sleep Clinic at the Epworth Hospital. Since then, Compumedics Limited has become Australia’s leading sleep diagnostic and patient monitoring company, capturing a 70% share of the Australian market. In 2000/2001, Compumedics performed exceptionally well in its first year as a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange. The Company recorded revenue of over A$18 million, of which nearly 80% was sourced from international markets. The revenue generated not only exceeded forecasts, but also performed 76% better than the previous corresponding period.

Compumedics sells its products in over 20 countries worldwide, and is supported by well-established distribution partners, as well as a number of branch offices in key regions around the world. The Company is leveraging its existing technology to continue its expansion into a number of lucrative sleep related market sectors including cardiology monitoring, fatigue monitor, in-depth anaesthesia monitoring, and sleep treatment.
